🌴 A New Hotel is Coming to Mission Valley — Here’s the Scoop on the Element by Marriott
📍 8757 Rio San Diego Drive, right next to the existing Marriott Mission Valley
If you’ve been cruising through Mission Valley lately and noticed some construction near the Marriott, you’re not imagining things. A brand new Element Hotel by Marriott is on its way — and it’s bringing some pretty cool vibes with it.
✨ What’s the Element All About?
The Element brand is known for blending sleek, modern design with eco-conscious touches and a laid-back atmosphere — basically perfect for SoCal. This new location will be seven stories tall with 150 rooms, and although it shares a pool and restaurant space with the existing Marriott next door, it’s got its own entrance, lobby, and chill zone.
Some of the highlights:
- 🏢 5,300 sq. ft. of event & ballroom space (perfect for conferences or weddings)
- 💪 Fitness center
- 💼 Meeting rooms for the remote-work crowd
- ☕ Stylish lobby & lounge to hang out or get stuff done
- 🌿 River views and a clean, natural design vibe
“Think modern, earthy tones with an upscale but un-fussy energy.”
🏗️ What’s the Timeline?
Construction started in June 2024, and if everything stays on track, they’re aiming for a Winter 2026 opening. It’s going up where the old Marriott tennis courts used to be, and it’s being built using a smart combo of concrete and wood — fast, efficient, and environmentally conscious.
💡 Why This Matters for Mission Valley
This is just one more piece of the puzzle as Mission Valley continues its glow-up. Between Riverwalk, SDSU Mission Valley, and new restaurants and breweries popping up, we’re becoming more than a pass-through neighborhood — we’re becoming a destination.
The Element Hotel is going to be a great option for:
- Visiting family or friends who want to stay nearby
- Business travelers looking for a chill place with solid amenities
- Staycationers (because who doesn’t need a mini escape sometimes?)
