Where is the elementary school going to be developed?

Civita will have the first elementary school in Mission Valley. The San Diego Unified District approved the purchase of land located on the corner of Civita Boulevard and Via Alta. It will be directly across the street from the new apartment complex planned by Sudberry Properties. The apartment complex will also feature retail but no tenants have been announced yet. The location is currently being occupied by the temporary park and dog park for both big and small dogs. Construction of the elementary school scheduled to begin next year and will take around 2 years to complete. The elementary school will be able to hold 500 students from pre-kindergarten through 5th grade.

Elementary School Highlights:

  • Occupancy of 500 students
  • Pre-Kindergarten to 5th grade
  • State-of-the-art school
  • Indoor and outdoor learning
  • Two-stories
  • Construction to being 2020
  • Completion in 2 years

Why do we need an elementary school in civita?

The growing number of families in Mission Valley means there is a need for more schools. This elementary school will be technology driven and feature two stories. There will be areas for outdoor learning and gathering spaces, with light filled classrooms, play spaces and gardens. The high-tech classrooms will encourage audio, mobile computing, and visual components. I think this will be a great addition to the already well-planned community. I look forward to seeing other great additions to Civita moving forward.
